GoPro: Cloud Service

As a Lead UX Designer at GoPro, I worked on projects that spanned across the entire app ecosystem for GoPro - mobile, desktop and web-based apps - that involved connecting and controlling your camera, viewing and editing media and managing cloud storage.  I worked with teams in San Mateo, San Diego and France

The Ecosystem

In order to understand the entire GoPro ecosystem including the Plus cloud service, I created a lifecycle and customer journey documenting focusing on the GoPro Virtuous Lifeycle - Capture, Create and Share your great footage

Email & Notification Timeline

I created an additional timeline to show when and what notifications and emails are shown through the 60-day free trail for GoPro Plus - the cloud storage system.

Revision of the Post-Purchase experience on mobile

Initial numbers showed that most users were signing up for the service on mobile.  However most of them were not uploading media to their cloud storage.  Number also showed that users who uploaded to the cloud were most likely to keep their trial subscription.  I created a revised flow to walk users through the flow of uploading media to the cloud immediately after the completed their sign up for a free trial.

GoPro: Easy to use filters and effects

Lifecycle opportunities for effects and filters

Working with a product manager and a user researcher, I created a new initiative that would bring in easy-to-use effects and filters that quickly allows GoPro customers to make their media look amazing with a minimal amount of effort.  I started with a document that identifies the opportunities for filters and effects in the lifecycle of the customer.  These opportunities provided the UX framework for how, when and where the UI appears.

Go Pro Effects discovery on mobile app

Through user research, we found that most customers didn't share their footage because they didn't have the time to make their footage look good enough to share.  This wireframe walkthrough shows how customers would discover media that we applied effects to or them with a path that optimizes for sharing.
